Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Rugsley ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you visit us from the EU or UK, we also aim to honour the rights the GDPR gives you.
As of 2026 the small-business exemption no longer applies, so we treat every piece of personal information you give us, even just an email address, with the care the APPs require.
Who we are
Rugsley is a Melbourne glass-art studio based at 18 Dawson St, Brunswick, 3056, VIC, Australia. For any privacy question or request, email hello@rugsley.studio.
What we collect
Order and contact details you give us: your name, email, phone number, and shipping/billing address.
Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Commission enquiries: the details you submit, plus any reference image you choose to upload.
Technical information: IP address, device/browser, and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar tools to keep the site working and secure.
Why we use it
To take, fulfil and deliver your order, and to keep you updated about it.
To process payments (through Stripe) and prevent fraud.
To answer commission enquiries and messages you send us.
To send marketing or studio news only where you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
Cookies and consent
Essential cookies (for the cart and security) are always on because the site cannot work without them.
Any optional analytics or marketing cookies run only with your consent, and you can change your mind in your browser settings at any time.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Trusted service providers who help us run the store: payment processing (Stripe), website hosting and database (e.g. Vercel and Supabase), email delivery, and shipping carriers.
Some of these providers may store data overseas (for example in the United States or the EU). We take reasonable steps so that overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the APPs.
Anyone else only where you ask us to, or where the law requires it.
Automated decisions
We do not use automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you. The only automated tools we use are spam, bot and fraud protection.
Security and how long we keep it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and reputable, access-controlled providers.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires (for example tax records), and then delete or de-identify it.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@rugsley.studio.
You can withdraw marketing consent at any time.
If you are in the EU or UK, you may also have rights to erasure, portability and to object to certain processing.
Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first at hello@rugsley.studio and we will work to resolve it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
